Yeasterday it was announced that Alberto Contador has signed a 2 year deal with Team Saxo Bank / SunGard

Bjarne Riis the owner of Team Saxo Bank / SunGard Have signed a new sponsorship deal with Saxo Bank for one more year, while SunGard is on board for two years. The deals reportedly gives Team Saxo Bank / SunGard one of the largest budgets in professional cycling.

Contador will be "replacing" Frank and Andy Schleck who are going to be the leaders of a new Protour team in Luxembourg, managed by two former Bjarne Riis employees, directeur sportiff Kim Andersen and PR-manager Brian Nygaard (now general manager).

Contador will be joining one of the best managed teams on the pro-tour and if Contador and Bjarne Riis can hit it off this marriage could result in a handfull more Tour de France wins.

The biggest questionmark and stubeling block could be the number of riders, mechanics and soigneurs Contador wants to bring into the team. Team Saxo Bank / SunGard has been build around teamwork and cameraderie.

If Contador wants to run his own show within the team this marriage could be troublesome. But I think that both parties know that this could be a match made in heaven.
