Louis Saha and Mikael Silvestre, Manchester United’s French duo, are both being sought after by Paris St. Germain. The French club is aware that the players are not in Sir Alex Ferguson’s first team plans for the upcoming season and are hoping to lure them to their native land.
Sunderland are also in the pursuit of Louis Saha, and have even been reported to have already made a £10 million bid for the French striker. So if PSG are to be successful in signing Saha, they may have to outbid Roy Keane.
However, it may also take much more for PSG to convince Saha to move to France after the former Fulham striker stated he wanted to stay in England.
PSG and Sunderland aren’t Saha’s only admirers, however, with AS Monaco also being heavily linked with a move for the United striker. Saha has been plagued by injury since making the move to Old Trafford and has scored 42 goals in total in 124 appearances for Manchester United.
A deal for Silvestre will also be tricky for the French side with the United defender supposedly holding out for a testimonial at Old Trafford. Silvestre is nearing 10 years at Manchester United and would therefore be qualified for a testimonial some time in the future of his career.
PSG are reported to be planning a £3.5 million bid for Silvestre in order to secure his services. The French international, who turns 30 next month, only made three Barclays Premier League appearances last season after suffering ligament damage in his knee back in September.
Paul Le Guen, PSG's manager, is looking to rebuild his side and has already brought in midfielder Claude Makalele from Chelsea. A deal for Manchester United’s Saha and Silvestre will be a lot more difficult and the PSG manager would be wise to brace himself for a double rejection by the French pair.
