NHL Buzz: Tuesday, August Third

Todd CordellCorrespondent IAugust 3, 2010

There is a lot of talk in the NHL right now, here is the latest.

Several teams are interested in Antti Niemi however, most teams that like him have to clear cap or roster space for him. Rumor has it the Washington Capitals, San Jose Sharks, Edmonton Oilers, Philadelphia Flyers and a few KHL teams all have interest.

Many of you follow @NHLSourcesSay on Twitter. If you do, you would have noticed a tweet saying "Jackets front runners for John Madden" about eight hours ago. This rumor is 100% false and has been confirmed by three Blue Jackets sources. You could also deny this rumor by using common sense based on the fact they already have a third line center in Sami Pahlsson.

Peter Forsberg is skating hard and wants to play professional hockey again. He is a long way away from the NHL but you know if he wants to return, a lot of teams would be interested.

Teemu Selanne is leaning towards playing another year or two; rumor has it Paul Kariya is interested in joining him in Anaheim.

Several teams remain interested in Tomas Kaberle but the offers are not up to Brian Burke's standards. Unless Burke will lower his price, it looks like Kaberle will remain a Toronto Maple Leaf.

Several teams are interested in Willie Mitchell; rumor has it the Minnesota Wild, Washington Capitals, Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings and Detroit Red Wings are among them.

This concludes today's edition of NHL Buzz, enjoy.
