Several sources out of Chicago, including local news outlet WGNTV, are reporting that Marty Turco has signed a one-year deal with the Blackhawks worth $1.75 million.

Just days after Antti Niemi was awarded $2.75 million in his arbitration hearing, it seems that Chicago has decided to part with the Finnish rookie who carried them to the Stanley Cup last June.

At 35 years of age, Turco is a veteran force between the pipes, posting six consecutive 30-plus win seasons before stumbling a bit last year, winning only 22 games.

For Niemi, there aren't many starting gigs left in the NHL.

Teams rumored to be interested in Niemi's services are the Philadelphia Flyers, Washington Capitals, and Edmonton Oilers.

Despite signing the cheaper option in net, the Blackhawks will still have to make some moves to get under the salary cap.

More as we get it...
