With the college season just around the corner and all the media days that have come and gone, it got me thinking about some of the best quotes.

There have been many great ones from the last 10 years.

Joe Paterno has had many including his rant on "that Twitter thing".

Mack Brown has talked about players not caring about drug tests cause at least they don't have to study to pass.

Even before these fine runner ups came to pass there was the ol' ball coach who gave his condolences to the 15 coloring books that weren't finished in an Auburn dormroom fire.

There have been many press conference, many interviews, and just about everything in between in the last 10 years, but I have attempted to compile the best five, or most memorable sound bites, from 2000-2009.

So be a man and guarantee that you will never read an article as hard as you will read this one....

Kellen Winslow

Back in November of 2003, The U took on Tennessee in a matchup of top-20 teams.

On a sweep play for Devin Hester, Winslow took out two Vols, including DB Corey Campbell. After the play was over, he stood over the injured player and taunted him.

The rant is from an interview following the 'Canes 10-6 loss.

"Yeah, I don't give a hell. It's about this U, man. I don't give a flyin' you-know-what about a Vol. I don't give a damn! He would do the same thing to me. It's war. They don't give a freakin' you-know-what about you. They will kill you. They're out there to kill you. So I'm 'a kill 'em. You write that in the paper. You write that. You make money off that. No, man, I'm pissed. All y'all take this down. I'm pissed, man. We don't care about nobody except this U. We don't. If I didn't hurt him, he'd hurt me. They were gunnin' for my legs. I'm a come right back at 'em. I'm a f***in' soldier!"

Gary Barnett

What would the University of Colorado football team be like now if Gary Barnett had not stuck his foot in his mouth back in 2004.

Former placekicker Katie Hnida had alleged that several members of the Colorado football team had raped her. This is what Coach Barnett had to say about that:

“Katie was a girl. Not only was she a girl, she was terrible. And there's no other way to say it,”

The end for Barnett would come after the 2005 regular season, one year following the foot going into the mouth.

Mike Gundy

Gundy_display_image

Back in 2007, Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy took exception to an article that was written about one of his players, backup QB Bobby Reid, and why he may have been demoted.

Even though they had just beaten Texas Tech, he refused to be happy and answer any questions about the game. Instead he decided to go on a more than three minute tangent on how he felt.

Here is the last, and better part:

"COME AFTER ME! I'M A MAN! I'M FORTY! I'M NOT A KID. WRITE SOMETHING ABOUT ME or our coaches. Don't right it about a kid that does everything right. That's heart is broken. And then say that the coaches said he was scared. THAT AIN'T TRUE. And then to say that we made that decision because Donovan was. Because he threatened to transfer. THAT'S NOT TRUE. So get your facts straight. And I hope someday you have a child and someone downgrades him or belittles him, and you have to look him in the eye and say you know what? It's okay. They're suppose to be mature adults but they really aren't. Who's the kid. Who's the kid here. Are you kidding me? That's all I got to say. Makes me wanna puke!"

Tim Tebow

Tebow_display_image

After a 2008 loss to Ole Miss at "The Swamp", Tim Tebow was as emotional as a woman on her wedding day.

He stepped up to the mic, talked about the game, and had this great and inspiring quote of the 2008 season:

“I’m sorry. Extremely sorry. We were looking for an undefeated season. That was my goal, something Florida’s never done here. But I promise you one thing: A lot of good will come out of this. You have never seen any player in the entire country play as hard as I will play the rest of the season, and you will never see someone push the rest of the team as hard as I will push everybody the rest of the season. You never see a team play harder than we will the rest of the season. God bless.”

All they did was run the table, win the SEC title, and beat Oklahoma for the National Title. I guess he knew what he was talking about....

Mike Leach

After losing to Texas A&M 52-30 last year, Mike Leach put the blame to who else, but the players' fat little girlfriends.

What?

I think what he was trying to say was how his team listened to everyone giving them praise and overlooked the game upcoming. But again that's just my translation. Here is the quote:

"Our staff failed to make our points more compelling than their fat little girlfriends. Now their fat little girlfriends have some obvious advantages. For one thing, their fat little girlfriends are telling them what they want to hear, which is 'how great you are' and 'how easy its going to be' and we had a bunch of people who wanted to win the football game but nobody wanted to play the football game.

"That defies every level of work ethic that exists with regard to football. As coaches, we have to solve our failure on reaching them and the players have to listen. I am willing to go to fairly amazing lengths to make that happen. I don't know if I will be successful this week or not but I am going to try and there will be some people inconvenienced and if it happens to be their fat little girlfriends too bad. "

Bobby Bowden

Now I know there are probably some others from the past ten years and I am sure Bobby Bowden's name will come up.

So what are some of the best quotes you remember from the past decade?

Was it a rant from a coach after a loss? Or a player having had enough and is tired of it?

As always please leave your thoughts and quotes on the comment board, and if you can find the video be sure to post the link.
