Two of the best speed demons in the Minor Leagues today are Rays outfielder Desmond Jennings (23 in AAA) and Angels outfielder Mike Trout (18 in A-advanced).
While these two are at nearly opposite ends of the development spectrum (Jennings is, essentially, MLB-ready while Trout is probably two-to-three years off), both of these guys are big-time names to watch for when looking for stolen base threats over the next few years.
Jennings (.299/.382/.446 career MiLB line), a 6’2” right-hander, has swiped 160 bags in four Minor League seasons—including 52 (caught seven times) in 132 games in 2009 and 28 (caught twice) through 80 games in 2010.
