Pictured, is the most underrated DE in the country, Ryan Kerrigan. What a nightmare.
Purdue is often dismissed as a BigTen bottom feeder, but the Boilermakers have been fielding a respectable defense for years.
Despite returning only 11 starters, Purdue should be fine in 2010.
Last years Qb Joey Elliot will be replaced by Robert Marve, the Qb that lost the race against Jacory Harris in Miami. Marve has a strong arm. He'll fill in nicely, and is a serious upgrade over the other Qb's who could have been in that spot.
Ralph Bolden is gone, but much like every 1-2 yr Purdue Rb wonder, he'll be replaced by some other good back you've never heard of.. In 2010 that back will be Al-Terek McBurse, who has a 'mcburst'. Did they get their happy meal toy?
Look at the early losses last season: @Oregon(by 2pts), NIU(28-21/I watched that one - turnovers killed them) , they kept loosing, NW by 6,... who would have thought they would turn around and beat Ohio State right? Wrong. This team had been proving every week that they could compete with good football teams. TUrnovers are killers.
In Purdue's 5 early loses, they turned it over 9 times, and didn't win the turnover battle in any of those games. Against OSU, they had a 2 turnover advantage.
This team remains what it was. A near .500 competitor with a shot at a bowl. This team played with emotion last season, and they enter the 2nd season under Danny Hope. Le'ts hope, for his sake, they can get it done.
