The trade deadline is a little more that 24 hours away, and teams are making moves.

The pretenders are trying to rid themselves of high priced veterans so that they can start over.

The contenders are looking for the final piece that will set them up for a long playoff run.

Now that Oswalt has been dealt, it seems as if it is time to make a move for one of the three big sluggers that might be available.

Yesterday, the talk was all about the Chicago White Sox acquiring Adam Dunn...

Are the White Sox Now Eyeing a Different Slugger?

Sources around the web now are saying that the asking price for Nationals slugger Adam Dunn might be too high...

So, the White Sox are shifting their focus to either the Colorado Rockies right fielder Brad Hawpe or...

Could Berkman be Headed to the Windy City?

Sources say that the White Sox are looking for a lefty slugger so Dunn, Hawpe, and Berkman fit the bill.

But because of the Nationals' asking price, Dunn has moved behind Berkman for now on Chicago's wish list.

Bad News for Anyone Wanting Prince Fielder

According to numerous sites, despite the fact that they are plummeting in the NL Central standings, the Milwaukee Brewers are taking both Corey Hart and Prince Fielder off of the trading block.

The Sporting News reports that the Brewers are not interested in trading either of their star players in order to start some rebuilding project.

That could be why Prince is smiling.

Even though they have let it be known that they are in search of a powerful left handed slugger, rumors out of ESPN are that Edwin Jackson might be headed to the White Sox.

Jackson tossed a 149-pitch, eight-walk no-hitter earlier this year against his former team, the Tampa Rays.

The Diamondbacks signed him to a two-year deal earlier this year.

Texas Rangers Continue to Talk the Talk

You gotta love the great state of Texas.

Even though, by all accounts, the Texas Rangers are out of money, they keep making calls and try to acquire big-name talent.

The latest rumor is that they have called the Marlins in an effort to pry their ace, Josh Johnson, away.

According to Yahoo! Sports, the Marlins let them know that Johnson is "unmovable."

I love the inquiry, and I really love the response.

A New Team Jumps into the Adam Dunn Sweepstakes

Reports are that the Nationals are asking for a king's ransom from anyone who wants slugger Adam Dunn.

Because of this, both the Chicago White Sox and the San Francisco Giants have cooled on trading for him.

But now the Tampa Bay Rays have thrown their hat into the ring and are said to be the front runners in the bid to acquire Dunn.

The Cardinals Still Want Pitching

The St. Louis Cardinals really wanted Roy Oswalt.

But now that he is no longer an option they are looking towards grabbing Jake Westbrook from the Cleveland Indians.

Or even possibly going after Colorado Rockies hurler Aaron Cook.

Ted Lilly Soon to Be Reuniting with Torre?

Though most of the trade talk around Cubs pitcher Ted Lilly has died down, the LA Dodgers seem to still be interested.

Lilly pitched for the New York Yankees when Joe Torre was the manager in the early 2000s.

The Hobbled Red Sox Make a Call for Relief

With all the injuries that they have suffered, it's a wonder Red Sox GM Theo Epstein hasn't been calling more teams.

But the rumor is that the only thing Theo and the Sox are looking for right now is relief pitching.

The two names that have come up are San Diego Padres reliever Joe Thatcher and Milwaukee Brewers reliever Trevor Hoffman, according to FOXSports.

As Usual for the Yankees, it's a Buyer's Market

The Yankees don't like letting a trade deadline go by without making a move or two.

The word, according to ESPN, is that they want the perfect set up man for Mariano Rivera (now that Joba Chamberlain has lost the job) and they hope that they might be able to get an All-Star for the job.

The Kansas City Royals All-Star closer Joakim Soria is exactly who they are looking for.

The Chicago White Sox Have Something Cooking

According to several sources, GM Kenny Williams and the White Sox are trying to trade for Edwin Jackson, but only so they can have an extra piece so that they can entice the Nationals into letting go of Adam Dunn.

I wonder if players wake up and read all this stuff?

You think Jackson is at home right now packing and thinking, "I don't know where I'm going, but I know I won't be in Arizona much longer?"
