(July 28th) Fighting on a Lou DiBella Broadway Boxing card at BB Kings in Time Square, New York, 20 year-old unbeaten boxer Joe “The Irish Bomber” Smith Jr. took a round to loosen up. Smith, who works as a laborer for Local 66 responded to the loud support from a large contingent of fellow union members, and “The Irish Bomber” settled down in round two, blasting Charles Wade with a heavy straight right flush on the chin, leaving him doing a “Second City” impression of a weeble, wobbling through the referee’s eight count.

When the action resumed, Smith, a certified finisher, moved in, banging Wade with unanswered power shots from both sides prompting the referee to put a stop to the beating at 1:10 of the second round. Smith, trained by former Long Island standout pro’s and fellow Local 66 members Phil and Gerry Capobianco, remains perfect at 6-0. 6Ko’s is looking to stay busy with a possible showing at Havoc’s show August 7th at Aviator Sports and Recreation Center Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn.
