Per the Seahawks website, former Texan guard Chester Pitts has signed with the Hawks.
Pitts was a second-round draft choice by the Texans in 2002, and is now 31 years old. He worked under current Seahawks line coach Alex Gibbs during his tenure with the Texans.
He figures to push or overtake Ben Hamilton for left guard and provide some depth.
He's much like Rob Sims in that he does much better in pass blocking than run blocking.
After this signing, the Seahawks figure to have a deeper and perhaps better interior offensive line than last year.
To make room, LB Anthony Heygood and DE Robert Henderson have been released. Henderson was acquired in the Rob Sims trade.
Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
