With players like Ryan Malone, Jarkko Ruutu, Gary Roberts, and Georges Laraque signing with other teams during the offseason, some fans may be wondering if the team chemistry and unity will be as strong as it was during the entire 07-08 season.

Even though we lost some key veterans, we still have veteran leaders in Mark Eaton, Sergei Gonchar, and Petr Sykora.

Most of the team is the same as last year, but we also have great new additions to the Penguins family such as Miroslav Satan, Ruslan Fedotenko, Eric Godard, Matt Cooke, and Janne Pesonen.
Anyone who knows anything about the Penguins should know that this team is a very close knit group for various reasons. They have either been drafted in the same year or they have played together on various teams over the course of their hockey careers.

One example of just how close this team is that sticks out to me the most is the re-signing of defenseman Brooks Orpik. Apparently, he was “out the door” until he got calls from teammates Rob Scuderi, Ryan Whitney, Tyler Kennedy, Marc-Andre Fleury, Max Talbot, Kris Letang and the captain Sidney Crosby begging him to stay.

When it comes to the unity side of things, I think that last years team proved that they were a close knit group when they made their trip to West Point for a bunch of rigorous team building exercises such as the exercise where they had to carry their teammate on their shoulders.

This years team should not face any inner-locker room differences and I can certainly see the new players fitting in just fine with the guys from last year.

As you can see, this Pittsburgh Penguins team will defiantly have enough chemistry to stick together through the thick and thin, therefore they will be a force to be recon with come playoff time.
