NHL Free Agency: If All NHL WAGs Were Free Agents, Who Would You Sign?

NHL Free Agency is coming to a close, but a few players remain on the market. Ilya Kovalchuk is the biggest name, but Lee Stempniak, Willie Mitchell, and Andy Sutton also are in need of a new contract. Ranking the best available free agents may be difficult, but nothing compares to the rigor of determining who is the hottest NHL WAG on the planet. The following are the top 25 most gorgeous wives and girlfriends (current and former) of NHL players.

25) Paris Hilton

The great-grandaughter of Conrad Hilton, founder of Hilton Hotels, Paris dated former Washington Capitals goaltender Jose Theodore. She dated Theodore in his heyday. As a Montreal Canadien, Theodore was a rock in net, serving as the team's goaltender from 1995 to 2006. The couple broke up around the time he was struggling in net and was traded to Colorado.

 

24) Ashley Leggat

This Canadian actress made a name for herself in theater before her recent move to film. She is currently engaged to forward Jeremy Williams. Williams, who has spent his career splitting time between the NHL and AHL, played 77 games for the Red Wings' AHL team, the Grand Rapids Griffins. As an unrestricted free agent, Williams left the Wings to join the Rangers in hopes of playing his first NHL game since the 2008 season.

 

23) Oksana Kondakova

Rumored to be in the process of divorcing her current husband in favor of the Pittsburgh Penguins' superstar forward, Evgeni Malkin, Oksana Kondakova has taken interest in the Stanley Cup winner. In return, Malkin has dumped his girlfriend to court Kondaksova. Malkin continues to play at a high level, but if he continues to complicate his life outside of the rink, his production may take a dip inside of it.

 

22) Hilary Duff

Engaged to Oilers' forward Mike Comrie in February, actress/singer Hilary Duff may be involved in the next athlete-celebrity marriage featured by People magazine.

Duff made a name for herself in the television series Lizzie McGuire. She has starred in the movie Cheaper by the Dozen and has released four albums.

21) Janet Jones

The Missouri native Janet Jones is currently married to hockey legend Wayne Gretzky. Jones married Gretzky in 1988, the year of the trade that sent The Great One from Edmonton to LA.

An incredibly versatile woman, Jones has been on the cover of Playboy, was featured in a Police Academy film, and appeared in a Van Halen music video.

Some critics accused Jones of influencing Gretzky's decision to join the Kings, as the move to LA helped move her career forward.

20) Kellie Pickler

Kellie Pickler, a North Carolina born country singer, became famous after she appeared on the fifth season of American Idol.

As a country singer in the south, she is often associated with Nashville Predators enthusiast Taylor Swift and hockey WAG Carrie Underwood.

A solid tennis player in her own right, the Anna Kournikova dominated womens' doubles and was ranked No. 1 in the world in 1999.

Rumored to have married, Kournikova denies reports that she had tied the knot with Federov.

17) Noureen DeWulf

Indian starlet Noureen DeWulf was an actress in the hit films West Bank Story and Ghosts of Girlfriends past. She recently has entered in a relationship with Buffalo Sabres' netminder Ryan Miller. DeWulf has also had roles in The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard, The Back-Up Plan, The Comebacks, and Ocean's Thirteen.

Tia Carrere, a Hawaiian actress, had a breakthrough playing Mike Myers' love interest, Cassandra, in Wayne's World. During her second marriage, which ended in divorce, she was involved in an affair with Tie Domi. The former Maple Leafs, Rangers, and Winnipeg Jets enforcer was involved in a penalty box fight with a fan in Toronto.

 

15) Kim Alexis

Married to former Rangers, Red Wings, Penguins, and Kings star Ron Duguay, Kim Alexis was a well-known Sports Illustrated model in her heyday.

Duguay retired from the NHL in 1988, but played minor league hockey for the San Diego Gulls and the Jacksonville Barracudas before hanging up his skates and covering the Rangers for MSG Network.

14) Amanda Vanderpool

As an Ice Girl Cheerleader for the Ducks, Vanderhool entered into a relationship with Ladislav Smid.

Smid was drafted by Anaheim in 2004 and dealt to the Oilers in the trade that brought Chris Pronger to the Ducks.

Melanie Collins is an NBA-TV reporter and bikini model. She is currently dating Scottie Upshall of the Phoenix Coyotes.

Upshall was dealt to the Flyers for Peter Forsberg in 2007. He spent last year with the Phoenix Coyotes, leading them on a Cinderella run that resulted in an 100-point season and a playoff appearance.

Souray has been inconsistent in his 11-year career. He has shown promise, with two 50-plus point efforts in the last four years.

A Czech model who moved to New York City at the age of 19, Veronika Varekova has appeared in the swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated eight times as well as appearing on the cover of Cosmopolitan.

She was once married to Petr Nedved. The Czech forward spent 15 years in the NHL before spending the last three years playing professional hockey in his home country.

2) Gena Lee Nolin
