Cashman Cashes In: Yanks Land Pudge

It the Yankees world and we're all just living in it.

While trades involving the Yankees are never a shock, with the trade deadline approaching, Brian Cashman and Dave Dombrowski just had a little fun, swapping Ivan Rodriguez for Kyle Farnsworth.

For the Yankees, it makes the Jorge Posada season ending injury muche easier to swallow.  Pudge and his world series rings immediately become anoter impact veteran bat in the always stacked Yankees lineup. Bengie Molina will return to his more comfortable position as a backup, and it should mark the end of Chad Moeller's stay on the roster.

For the Tigers, the move will opens full playing time for Brandon Inge behind the plate and adds another arm to the incredibly shaky Tigers' bullpen.  A bullpen which just sat down Todd Jones from the closer role and is still trying to find a legitimate closer.

Both Rodriguez and Farnsworth will be free agents when the season is over, so Dombrowski could either be cost-cutting, or it could be a precursor to more moves coming in Tigerland.
