The Usual Q.T. stamped himself as a serious star on the turf with a decisive victory in the $300,000 Grade 1 Eddie Read at Del Mar on Saturday.

Sitting off the pace set by Acclamation and Enriched under jockey Victory Espinoza, the California-bred son of Unusual Heat displayed a scintillating turn of foot down the stretch to win by two lengths.

Trained by James Cassidy, The Usual Q.T. has now won eight of 15 lifetime starts and is a perfect three for three over Del Mar’s turf course.
