 Former St. Louis Cardinals managers Whitey Herzog has been inducted into Cooperstown.  The St. Louis Cardinals have announced that they are going to retire his number 24.  He won three pennants (1982, '85 and '87) and one World Series (1982) for the Cardinals. 

   He changed the way the game was played (they called it Whiteyball) and several other teams followed that lead.  Herzog took over in St. Louis in the middle of the 1980 season, which was the beginning of a wonderful relationship with Cardinals owner Gussie Busch. 

   In the winter of 1980 Herzog and the Cardinals traded 14 players and acquired 11.  With these trades the Cardinals changed there philosophy...
