Yesterday, I woke up and got some truly startling news; Randy Savage has teamed up with Mattel and WWE to create an action figure. This comes a year after a DVD set entitled "Macho Madness: The Randy Savage Ultimate Collection" was released for Savage.
Now, these two products simply could be Vince McMahon cashing in on Randy Savage's legendary, hall of fame career and I don't expect them to be buddies because of their reported tension and Vince's hatred of Savage. But what I do expect is exactly what Savage said while promoting his new deal with Mattel: "2011 will be the Macho Man's year."
Of course, I'm probably reading too much into this, but let's just say that he meant what he said. Does bringing out his first action figure in over a decade really give him the right to proclaim that 2011 will be the Macho Man's year?
Well, no, but what if this deal is part of a much bigger deal.
A plan to, quite possibly, induct Randy Savage into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011.
Let's think about it for a moment though. Randy Savage was promoting his action figure from his match with the Ultimate Warrior from Wrestlemania Seven. Is it just a coincidence that it is being released 20 years later, in the year of Wrestlemania 27?
I don't think so. I think Savage signed a much bigger deal to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in exchange for WWE bringing out a Macho Man action figure.
What about you, though? Could the Macho Man be getting something that fans worldwide have craved? Or is this just wishful thinking from a big Macho Man fan?
As usual the comment section is available and I encourage both positive and negative comments.
