This is a re-write of the lyrics to the song, "The Devil Went Down To Georgia."

This lyrics were written by me tonight in Johnson City, Tenn., and I would appreciate if persons on this site would not edit it in such a way that changed any words around.

Even if there are words or sentences you find to be incorrect, please understand these are song lyrics and the wording may not be the same as an actual written article.

Thank You, and Go Vols!

Lane Kiffin went out to Cali, he was lookin' for a deal to make, he was in a bind cause the Vols were behind, but it was their hearts he would break.

Then he came across the new coach callin' plays and callin' em hot and Kiffin jumped up on a hickory stump and said, "Boy let me tell you what".

"I'll bet you didn't know it, but I'm a signal caller too, and if you care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you. Now you call pretty good plays boy, but give the devil his due, I'll bet a headset of gold against your soul, 'cause I think I'm better than you."

The coach said, "my name's Dooley and it might make you holler, but I'll take your bet, you're gonna regret cause son, I'm a lawyer."

Dooley call your plays and work your players hard, cause hell's broke loose on Rocky Top and Kiffin deals the cards.

And if you win, you get this shiny headset made of gold, but if you lose, ah, who cares, Kiffin still won't make a bowl.

Kiffin opened up his playbook and he said, "I'll start this show," and violations flew from his fingertips and he didn't know where to go.

Then he pulled Orgeron close and he kissed him on his lips, then his old ass daddy joined in and fell and broke his hip.

When Kiffin finished Dooley said, "Lane, is that the best you can do? You couldn't score to beat UCLA on fourth down from the two."

Players in a bar fight, run boys run.
Dooley's in the house, not the prodigal son.
Fulmer's in the bread pan, pickin' out dough.
Dooley does your mom have a sound bite? No, please no.

Kiffin bowed his head because he knew that he'd been beat and he laid that golden headset on the ground at Dooley's feet.

Dooley said, "just come on back if you ever wanna try again, but I'll tell you now, you son of a gun, the Vols will damn sure win!"
