As the days continue to tick away, fantasy owners silently plant themselves in front of televisions, computers, and magazines in search of the perfect fit for their elusive fantasy team.
With that said, as football fantasy league participants, we all share a common ground. We sit and contemplate who will be are starting running back, tight end, wide receiver, and kicker. We even go as far as crunching numbers to discover that magnificent throwing arm that will provide us with an enormous amount of scoring power. Yes I'm talking about the quarterback position.
Over the years of playing fantasy league football, I've noticed that quarterbacks provide a substantial amount of points when they rush the ball. Sometimes even provide more points than running backs in that department.
So for this, I've come along and gathered some information on who I truly believe will dominate the rushing quarterback category. Furthermore, I have provided some projections for this years football season.
Coming off a mediocre season in Chicago, Jay Cutler provided all of us with some woe moments when he tossed the ball in the air. Jay Cutler threw for 27 touchdowns but placed a handicap on that number with 26 interceptions.
A lot of fantasy owners that had Jay Cutler suffered from the interceptions, but in contrast benefited from his mobile ability. Jay Cutler rushed the ball 40 times and had a total of 173 yards rushing.
I believe Jay Cutler will have a better season this year. It's his second season as a Chicago Bear, and I truly believe he's adjusted to the teams offensive system.
My projection for 2010: 225 yards rushing, three rushing TDs.
If there was any second year quarterback that I had to choose that would have a big year in 2010, it would have to be Josh Freeman. This beast of a man is 6'6, 248 pounds and eludes players like he was a running back flying out of the backfield.
Josh Freeman showed signs of potential greatness during his rookie year. He has to improve on his passing decisions, but his rushing ability is probably one of his greatest attributes. Josh Freeman recorded great numbers as a mobile quarterback. In 2009 he had 161 rushing yards, and averaged 5.4 yards a carry.
Look for these numbers to increase this year.
My projection for 2010: 235 rushing yards, three touchdowns.
He was invincible at times in his career. He has been plagued by a lot of challenges throughout his career, but manifested to place things together in 2009. Vince Young took the Tennessee Titans out of a miserable slump, and provided the fans with much took look forward to for 2010.
Vince Young produced a fair amount of points in the passing department for fantasy owners, but gave them more production in the rushing category.
Vince Young had 281 yards rushing and two touchdowns to compliment his quick out of the pocket ability to dodge defenders. With a pro bowl running back and a mobile quarterback, this offensive rushing team will have defenses puzzled throughout the league.
My prediction for 2010: 300 yards rushing, five touchdowns.
David Garrard has had a gradual incline as a NFL quarterback. Going into his fourth year as a starting quarterback in Jacksonville a lot of skeptics are predicting this might be his breakout season.
David Garrard threw for roughly 3600 yards last season and had three 300 yard games. Nonetheless, once again this quarterback gave many fans across the northern part of Florida excitement as he jolted and juked defenders, and ran for a staggering 323 yards. He also contributed with three rushing touchdowns.
Jacksonville has juiced up their offensive line, with that said, David will have more time to hit his receivers and elude defenders.
My prediction for 2010: 366 yards rushing, five touchdowns.
Like you had no idea? What can I say about Aaron Rodgers, this man has it all. He throws the ball with perfect accuracy. Can post significant numbers in the passing department. As a matter of fact, he will probably end up breaking most of the Packers quarterback records as his career flourishes.
I've never seen a quarterback that can throw the ball so well, yet compliment it with his running ability. Aaron Rodgers by far is the fantasy football king for years to come. This athlete posted 315 yards rushing and had 5 rushing touchdowns to add to his bolstering passing game. Do I have to say more?
Aaron Rodgers career is on the rise, with that said, if you can pick up Rodgers in your fantasy pool, get him because he's gold!
My prediction for 2010: 375 yards rushing, six rushing touchdowns.
