Although he may not fight for the UFC anymore, Brad Blackburn has assured MMA fans that he will face tough competition no matter where he fights.
A fight with Bellator standout Dan Hornbuckle (21-3) is in the works for Bellator 25, which takes place on August 19th.
Blackburn revealed the news Wednesday on Rear Naked Choke Radio on the MMA DieHards Radio Network.
The fight would be Blackburn's first since being released from the UFC following his loss to DeMarques Johnson at UFC 112.
Although he was scheduled to fight John Alessio on July 9th, Blackburn was forced to drop the fight on short notice with an injury.
Hornbuckle, meanwhile, will be looking to rebound from a disappointing end to his campaign in the Bellator Season 2 welterweight tournament, one that saw him beat Tyler Stinson and Steve Carl before being derailed by eventual Season 2 winner, Ben Askren.
Blackburn will try to emulate the fighter that went 3-0 in the Octagon before being sidelined with a shoulder surgery, while Hornbuckle will try to get his name back in the win column and one step closer towards another shot at current champ Lyman Good.
