* Despite just 2 losses, Oregon has to drop from the rankings. Without Dennis Dixon, they'd be lucky to make a top 50 list.

* Hawaii was very impressive Friday night against Boise State in Honolulu. If they look good against UW next weekend, they should certainly leap-frog into the top 6.

* Odds of USC beating UCLA next week? 50%?

#1 West Virginia-517 rushing yards against a r anked UCONN team and 7 touchdowns. Pat White only had to throw the ball 13 times. West Virginia has earned the #1 spot after LSU fell to unranked Arkansas. Whoever is airing the National Championship will be rooting for West Virginia to win out if they expect anyone to be watching this year. This is the last remaining team with any star power.

#2 Ohio State-Maybe a win against Michigan will mean something next year against Les Miles. Congrats on beating one quality team this season. There is still time for Ohio State to drop in the rankings as things play out, but as of now West Virginia and Ohio State are the only BCS conference champions. Before you make a case for anyone else, they have to win their conference.

#3 Missouri-Again congratulations for beating one quality team. The only difference between you and Ohio State right now is that at least you beat Illinois. The only problem is when you beat Illinois. It isn't as impressive knowing the game happened on September 1st. You also beat Mississippi...so did everyone else in the SEC.

#4 Georgia-This is a sad day for the SEC. It's top team didn't even make the championship game.

#5 LSU-Way to stop McFadden. Aparently this defense was highly overrated. It was obvious that LSU was going down when Peyton Hillis ran it for a 65-yard score...LSU had 8 men in the box on that play.

#6 Kansas-This is the only one-loss team that is out of the mix now. The good news is that Kansas may finish with a better record than our eventual National Champion. The bad news is they may have to play LSU or Georgia in a bowl game.

#7 Hawaii-This is the only undefeated team in college football and they deserve to be mentioned among the teams for the national title game. For the reconrd, I would much rather see Hawaii in the title game than Missouri

#8 Virginia Tech
#9 Oklahoma
#10 Florida
#11 USC
#12 Boston College
#13 BYU
#14 Tennessee
#15 Illinois
#16 Arizona State
#17 Clemson
#18 Virginia
#19 Texas
#20 Michigan
#21 Connecticut
#22 Air Force
#23 Troy
#24 Navy
#25 UCF

I see the numbers, but how can Darren Mc Fadden be a Heisman winner if his coaches don't even have him in the game for the crucial 2-point try in the 3rd overtime...let alone not call on him to carry the ball. Not even in the game? As a decoy at least? Not my Heisman candidate.

Missouri loses to Oklahoma, leaving Ohio State and West Virginia in the title game. Remember what happened to an untested OSU team in last year's championship. Expect a similar result from an inferior and even-less-tested Buckeye team this year.

It's unfortunate that the two strongest conferences, SEC and Pac-10, couldn't get a team in. Playoff proponents will be hollering as loud as ever.
