Celtic have been linked with 20-year-old Barcelona midfielder Marc Crosas, however it seems we will be competing for his services with Barca’s La Liga rival Sevilla. With the upheaval at Barca this season, the 20-year-old Catalan has been told by new coach Josep Guardiola that he will not be featured in the plans of the first team.
The previous season Crosas was on loan at Lyon and appeared in eight games. Apparently these eight games were not enough to impress Barca, and Crosas has been told he could seek a new home for more playing time.
Both Sevilla and Celtic have expressed interest and will be vying for the young Catalan’s services. Crosas is a product of the Barca youth program. He plays a holding, defensive midfield role and is compared with current Barca stalwart Xavi.
Given the trouble that Massimo Donati has had replacing Neil Lennon and Paul Hartley's hot and cold performances, Crosas might be just the answer for our midfield problems.
