This years Open Championship was effected by the wind in all ways from driving the ball off of the tee and putting the ball on the greens.  From the 2nd round being delayed for just over an hour due to high winds that caused the balls on the greens to continue moving after being marked and players having to play their shots 20 to 40 yards left or right of their target so needless to to say the wind affected the players.

Now a player named Louis Oosthuizen got the luck of the draw in rounds 1 and 2 not having to deal with the wind and only a little bit of rain for part of round 2.  Through those first 2 round Louis was -12 under and had a 5 stroke lead.  When dealing with the wind Louis shot a -3 under 69 during round 3 and a -1 under 71 on Sunday.  Louis won the Open Championship no problem by 7 strokes over Lee Westwood.  Before the Open Louis had missed the cut in 8 of the 9 Majors he had ever played in.

Lee Westwood now could be the best player never to win a Major finishing in the top 5 in 5 of the last 7 Majors.  Lee Westwood shot a 67, 71, 71 and 70. Westwood finished in 2nd 1 stroke ahead of Henrik Stenson, Paul Casey and Rory McIlroy.

Roy McIlroy has never shot a round in the 70's at the Open and in the 1st round he shot a 63 and had a 2 stroke lead.  McIlroy became the first ever golfer to shot a 63 at the Open then shoot an 80 the following round.  McIlroy finished out the last 2 round with a 69 and 68. So McIlroy has still yet to shoot a round in the 70's.

Now the 2 biggest names in golf Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods were no where near the top of the leader board on Sunday.  Tiger shot an even 72 and Phil shot a +3 75.  This could be the only Major the Lefty never wins.  The reasons for that are his game is just not set for this event. He hits the ball to high for The Open Championship especially when the wind affects The Open which is every year.  Tiger Woods had finished tied for 4th in The Masters and US Open this year before finishing tied for 23 at -3 under.  Tiger had one good round his 1st round 67 and then shot 73, 73, 72 to finish The Open.
