The Mets have two of the best hitters in the NL; David Wright and Angel Pagan are fifth and sixth NL leaders in batting.

In 80 games, Pagan is batting .315 with 94 hits and 46 runs. Pagan is hitting better than Wright in batting average, but not in the power numbers like Wright. At the midway point, he has six HR, 40 RBI, and 19 steals.

Pagan should double that amount this year. I think the way Pagan is playing he should have been in the 2010 All-Star game. He the best kept secret of the New York Mets.

GM Omar Minaya must hurry up and sign Pagan to a long term contract because other teams are just waiting to bag Pagan services. With Beltran return Thursday against San Francisco, Francoeur will get less playing time. And Jason Bay is not playing like an All-Star, Pagan is playing like an All-Star that Bay is suppose to be.

As long as Jerry Manuel keeps Pagan in the Mets' lineup, the Mets will kept winning and first place could be theirs.
