What's up Bleaches?
"Time is slowly strolling by, so let's bleach it!"
About approximately one week ago, I wrote a pro wrestling slideshow and published it on the pro wrestling section of Bleacher Report.
It consisted of the top 10 entrance songs which are currently being used by professional wrestlers in Total Nonstop Action wrestling today.
Well, this slideshow comprises of "MY" top five entrance songs (from 2008 to present), currently used by wrestlers (whether tag teams or singles) in World Wrestling Entertainment today.
This list consists of entrance songs that are still fairly new and fresh in the WWE and have been active in the last two to three years. So without further ado, let's get to it!
Honorable Mentions
Zack Ryder ("Radio" by Watt White and Jim Johnston)
Ted DiBiase Jr. ("It's a New Day" by Adelitas Way)
Christian ("Just Close Your Eyes (v2)" performed by Story of the Year)
Kane ("Man on Fire" by Jim Johnston)
Evan Bourne ("Born to Win" by Mutiny Within and Jim Johnston)
Hart Dynasty ("New Foundation" by Jimi Bell and Jim Johnston)
Jack Swagger ("Get On Your Knees" by Age Against the Machine)
5. The Miz ("I Came to Play" by Downstait)
At No. 5, we have "I Came to Play" by Downstait, currently used by the Miz.
His previous theme song, "Reality," was pretty good, but this one is pretty freaking AWESOME!
I've loved it from the first time I heard it and it really matches up well with the Miz's new, serious, aggressive, and mature attitude quite well.
I gotta admit that addition of The Miz's "awesome" line to the song was a very nice touch.
I think it has been well received by the WWE Universe and I would expect the Miz to use it for a very long time, even when he becomes WWE champion.
4. Dolph Ziggler ("I Am Perfection" by Cage 9)
At No. 4, we have "I Am Perfection," performed by Cage 9 and composed by Jim Johnston.
Dolph's first theme song with the police sirens was pretty lame and just didn't scream future main-event guy in WWE.
But this one sure does and the whole "Perfection" plays of well with Dolph and really made me realize just who he reminded me off, Mr. Perfect himself.
This is another theme song that should not be scrapped because it's just to cool and is the "Perfect fit" for Dolph Ziggler.
Can't wait for the day when this song will play and we will finally see Dolph come to the arena with the Intercontinental title around his waist.
3. Sheamus ("Written in My Face" by Sean Jenness)
At No. 3, we have "Written in My Face" by Sean Jenness and composed by Jim Johnston, currently used by "The Celtic Warrior," Sheamus.
I just love this song and its fit for a main-event superstar like Sheamus. The song just has the Irish feel to it and matches up well with Sheamus's brutal and barbaric character.
It's gotten very popular in a very short amount of time with the WWE Universe and we can expect to here it reigning in WWE for years to come.
Call me clueless, but does the guy who performed the song sound Irish to any of you?
2. Drew McIntyre ("Broken Dreams" by Shaman's Harvest)
At No. 2, we have "Broken Dreams" by Shaman's Harvest, currently used by "The Chosen One," Drew McIntyre.
I honestly thought that the leader singer of Nickelback, Chad Kroeger, was the person that sang the song, but it was someone that I didn't know at all. It actually is sung by Darren Call, who is the lead singer of Downstait, who sing's The Miz's theme.
I gotta give Mr. Call props though, because this song has got to be one of the top 10 wrestling theme songs of the year so far.
Drew's first theme song was OK, but it never really matched Drew in my opinion and just felt like a song they just slapped on him.
This song, on the other hand, this one has a strong and intense beat to it and the lyrics just defines Drew so well.
And OMG! Drew's Titantron for the song has got to be one of the baddest wrestling Titantrons I have seen in a long time.
His entrance and Titantron now remind me of Randy Orton's previous entrance into the arena, when he was red hot back in 2009. Too bad he doesn't do it anymore and that's why I like Drew entrance more than his these days.
1. Randy Orton ("Voices" by Rev Theory)
And the number one spot goes to..."Voices" by Rev Theory, currently used by my favorite WWE superstar today, "The Viper" Randy Orton.
"Burn in My Light" by Mercy Drive was pretty cool, but Randy needed a song to match his new psychotic, aggressive, and remorseless character.
And "Voices" was exactly what he needed. It's sounds so sick and cold and that's exactly what would describe Randy's recent character.
The crowd might be cheering for him and he might be siding with the good guys from time to time, but he is still the same snake coiling viper, only with a few tweaks this time around.
This song would have to be on my top 10 list for the greatest theme songs of the last decade and it should never be taken off of Randy unless he wants it gone.
The only thing I miss about his entrance is the slow and methodical walk he used to do a while back, but I have a feeling that it will return very soon because I don't see Randy staying face for too long.
Closing comments
Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of entrance songs for guys like Edge, Chris Jericho, Triple H, and The Undertaker like everyone else.
But those entrance songs didn't debut in the last two to three years, hence why they weren't on a list like this.
