That's right, the Miami Heat are just getting better with every signing they make in this free-agency process. Their most recent move is Zydrunas Ilgauskas. The 7'3" center had previously played with LeBron James with the Cleveland Cavaliers. This may be one reason he signed with the Heat.
The Lithuanian is the ninth player on the Heat's roster that made huge news this offseason, alongside signing LeBron James and Chris Bosh and re-signing Dwayne Wade.
One reason why Ilgauskas may have decided to sign with the Heat is because he, like James, hasn't won a championship in his career. But Ilgauskas will face some competition for minutes in the center position since Miami had already signed two big men before and are planning in re-signing another center.
Ilgauskas has a career average of 7.7 RPG (7.4 in playoffs), 0.475 FG% (.477), and 13.8 PPG (11.0) playing in average 28.3 MPG (28.4).
The Heat have been trying to surround role-players around D-Wade and James, and with Ilgauskas they've done just that. Not only will it make LeBron more comfortable in the team, but he'll grab some solid rebounds and a viable option as a shooter.
Miami's future just got brighter than it already is. We'll have to wait and see how this turns out.
