On August 3rd we will be watching three champions battle to defend their belts against three tough challengers.   Let us get to know these contenders.

Hiromitsu Miura (9-4) will be challenging Carlos Condit (21-4) for the WEC Welterweigt championship.  Hiromitsu is a superb striker with over fifty percent of his wins came via TKO due to strikes.  With his Judo background he has takedowns and exceptional submission defense.  Look for Hiromitsu Miura try to keep the fight standing.

Marcus Hicks (7-0) will be in a battle with Jamie Varner (13-2-1) for the WEC Lightweight Championship.   Hicks has very well-rounded skills as does his opponent.  He can take a lot of damage and still come forward to his opponent.  He is going to be a tough match-up to for Varner.

Steve Cantwell (5-1) is the Light-Heavyweight contender against Brian Stann (8-0) for the championship.  This is a rematch with the first fight ending via TKO due to strikes, Stann being the winner.  After that fight Cantwell has been on a two-fight win streak finishing both fights in the first round.  Cantwell is not a submission expert but three of his fights were finished by either arm-bar or a choke.  That is his chance to defeat the powerful Stann.
