Tim Donaghy Sentenced to 15 Months in Prison
Tim Donaghy was sentenced to 15 months in prison on Tuesday morning.
After Donaghy was removed from officiating NBA games for gambling and making questionable calls, he went on a tirade, accusing other referees and NBA brass of encouraging the calls to protect ticket sales.
On top of his prison sentence, Donaghy must also attend counseling for a gambling addiction and undergo a three-year supervised release.
Two of Donaghy's high school friends were sentenced to more than a year in prison last week. James Battista, a professional gambler, was sentenced to 15 months. The middle man in the scheme, Thomas Martino, was sentenced to a year and one day.
Donaghy faced up to 33 months, but received 15 when the judge took his cooperation into consideration.
