The days are winding down before fall practice starts. Much has been accomplished for the Auburn football program since the end of the 2009 season. One of the most highly talented freshman classes in Auburn football history will soon start cracking pads for the first time.

With all of the optimism around the Auburn football program many have not taken a look into the 2010 schedule. The official 2010 Auburn football schedule is quite favorable. There are some very promising components contained within.

After a grueling 2009 campaign where Auburn played eleven games in a row, they do the same thing again for 2010. The difference is the scheduling of those games. Auburn does not play more than four major opponents without a more favorable game to break the gauntlet.

The season begins with a warm-up against Arkansas State followed by tougher games at Mississippi State and with Clemson and South Carolina. The schedule then gets easier with Louisiana-Monroe coming to Auburn. Then comes the hardest stretch at Kentucky, back to Auburn for Arkansas and LSU, then off to Mississippi. Homecoming with UT Chattanooga is next, followed by a home game with Georgia a bye week then off to Alabama for the Iron Bowl.

There are six teams on the schedule that could be ranked when they play Auburn: Clemson, South Carolina, Arkansas, LSU, Georgia and Alabama. This is no doubt a schedule that gives Auburn a chance to rise quickly in the rankings.

The toughest stretch will be the four games beginning with Kentucky, but they are certainly manageable.

There are no apparent trap games on the schedule and Auburn will likely be favored in the first eleven games if the season plays out well. This is the most favorable schedule the Tigers have had since the 2004 season when they finished quite well.
