My WWE Resume: Hey everyone and thanks for checking out my first article on Bleacher Report. I will be primarily writing about professional and college sports teams, but I have recently started following the WWE and have filled my brain over the course of the past ten months with ample knowledge of the current storylines, wrestlers, move sets, etc… Survior Series on November 22, 2009, was the first pay-per-view match that I witnessed and I have been hooked on the WWE ever since. My favorite wrestler is John Cena (yes, I know…I’m a Cena fan…but please keep on reading cause I’m not a biased Cena fan at all…you’ll see later). With that said, here are my 2010 WWE Money In the Bank pay-per-view predictions.
Alicia Fox © - Alicia Fox’s title reign will sadly not end at the MITB PPV. I can’t see Alicia losing the belt after having winning it last month at Fatal Four Way. That’s just too soon to end her title reign. I love her effective finishing scissors kick move and reports out there say that Alicia Fox’s sister has been signed to a WWE Developmental Deal so look for Alicia to beat Eve with that devastating scissors kick.
Eve Torres – On the July 12th edition of RAW, I really enjoyed Eve Torres and how she kept her composure and just gave a good ring side interview with King and Cole. The fans seem to adore her, but I think she will come up a little bit short in her 2nd rematch with Alicia Fox.
Layla © - I’m going to pick Layla in this match and go with 2 heel divas winning and keeping their respective championship belts. No good reason on the pick here…my guess is that there will be some kind of interference that will help Layla pick up the win.
Kelly Kelly – Her move to Smackdown via the WWE Draft will help her win a championship…just not quite this soon…Layla will retain at least for now
The Hart Dynasty © - This is my toughest pick of the night. The Hart Dynasty is getting a push but the WWE just doesn’t seem to be focusing on the Tag Team Division that much on its 2 hour long shows this month. I’m going to go with the Hart Dynasty winning this matchup but look in the very near future to see The Usos rise to the top of the ropes and eventually to the top of the elite Tag Teams in the WWE…unless the dark horses Santino and Koslov get some sort of a push or a feud going which is doubtful.
The Usos – Great tag team and I can easily see them picking up the win in this PPV. This match will come down to some sort of interference outside of the ring involving probably Natalya and Tamina…so take a bathroom break or load up on snacks once this match starts cause interference will decide this match either before the bells rings or once the divas initiate a brawl outside the ring.
Raw Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Randy Orton vs. Edge vs. Chris Jericho vs. Evan Bourne vs. Ted DiBiase vs. U.S. champion The Miz vs. John Morrison vs. Mark Henry
Randy Orton – The newest face in the WWE is going to be your new WWE champion as I personally guarantee you Orton will pick up the victory. With either Nexus or Sheamus winning the belt…you sure won’t see 2 heels, one with the belt and one with the contract, facing each other in the newest feud. But...who knows? Edge has had a lot of success on RAW this month and I wouldn’t be surprised if he won either. He’s my 2nd pick, but I really like Randy Orton and imagine him grabbing that briefcase like he did a few weeks ago on RAW.
Edge – (see Randy Orton)
Chris Jericho – Jericho in my opinion just hasn’t had a lot of camera time on RAW…not sure why…he’s interfered and has made his presence known in a couple of post matches but he just doesn’t strike me as someone whose going to win this since earlier this year Swagger cashed his contract on him and won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Jericho is also facing Yoshi Tatsu on WWE Superstars the Thursday before the MITB PPV so just can’t pick Jericho to win.
Evan Bourne – Despite his recent monumental push, Evan Bourne will not win RAW’s MITB. I do agree it has been fun watching this man flying through the air, but he could not even come close to beating Cena, Sheamus, or an NXT member alone. Look for Air Bourne off a ladder…that’s probably the most excitement you will see from him.
Ted DiBiase – I sure hope Maryse doesn’t come to the ring with Ted and spend the match there. Watch for Ted and John Morrison to hit some good moves on each other…but that’s probably all you’ll be seeing from DiBiase…besides, he doesn’t need the briefcase of money or the contract.
The Miz - The Miz already holds the United States belt…I think that’s enough hardware to own of the Miz’s caliber…I’ll be excited to see him defend his U.S. Championship at SummerSlam whoever it might be against. The Miz could win MITB…I got that feeling he could sneak in and grab that briefcase while other superstars are not paying attention or something.
John Morrison – John Morrison is a great wrestler and Starship pain is a sweet finisher, but there are just too many others superstars on RAW overshadowing him
Mark Henry – Mark is R-Truth’s replacement due to injury. Mark has 0% chance of winning, but a high chance of body slamming probably the Miz off a ladder so be on the lookout for that.
Smackdown Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Big Show vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Christian vs. Matt Hardy vs. IC champion Kofi Kingston vs. Kane vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Drew McIntyre
Big Show – No way a 485 pound man wins this type of match. But if the Big Show were to win, there is nobody on the Smackdown roster that could beat Big Show 1-on-1 unless he’s hurt or something.
Cody Rhodes – New Cody Rhodes new theme song, new Cody Rhodes storyline, same ol’ Cody Rhodes losing.
Christian – I picked Christian to win in Wrestlemania 26 in the same match and he lost to Jack Swagger. When is he going to win a belt? I sure hope it’s soon. Christian is my 2nd pick to win this month’s MITB PPV.
Matt Hardy – Matt is a ladder match specialist…He’s talented, he’s high-flying, but he’s got nothing on the Big Red Monster…can you say “hello choke slam,” from the top of a ladder?
Kofi Kingston – He’s already the Intercontinental champ. Kofi will get the fans into the match but will end up losing in the end. He’s athletic and quick…could surprise many fans and pick up the win, but I’m sold on Kane winning it. Kofi is on the cover of this month’s PPV MITB poster so maybe that increases his chances of winning.
Kane – Kane will be your MITB winner. I just feel that WWE would not carry on this storyline if they don’t have plans for Kane winning. Kane winning could set him up to face Mysterio or Swagger, who he now thinks may be responsible for the Undertaker’s death. But, Undertaker is slated to come back at SummerSlam in August so I would like to see Kane vs. Undertaker at SummerSlam. When Undertaker comes back he will do anything to win the World Heavyweight Championship, even if he has to fight his best friend in Kane. But we’ll see how this all pans out.
Dolph Ziggler – Dolph won’t win because he was a late add-on due to CM Punk’s injury. My guess is we will see Vickie Guerrero introduce Dolph and that will be it from him.
Drew McIntyre – This was definitely shocking to me because I heard reports that McIntyre could be gone from the WWE with VISA issues for many months, but nonetheless, he is in. I am just so convinced on Kane winning this thing that I feel McIntyre should try to win back the Intercontinental Championship from Kofi first.
World Heavyweight Championship Match: Rey Mysterio © vs. Jack Swagger
Rey Mysterio © - I think The Master of The 619 will win this match and lose the belt to my Smackdown MITB pick later this night. With WWE titling this PPV, “Money In The Bank,” I sure hope we see at least 1 of the 2 briefcase winners cash in that night.
Jack Swagger – Swagger loses to Rey, but applies his angle lock which then will prompt the Smackdown MITB winner to come out and announces he’s cashing it in right now. Or, Swagger beats Rey Mysterio and gets beaten for the title later in the show from Kane or another Smackdown MITB winner. Either way, I can’t see Swagger walking out of the MITB PPV with the belt.
Steel Cage Match for the WWE Championship: Sheamus © vs. John Cena
Sheamus © - This is definitely the most intriguing and highly anticipated match of the night. Sheamus is good in these kind of brutal matches (victory over Triple H at Extreme Rules) and is my pick to win. If Sheamus wins, he will fight off NXT and remain champ.
John Cena – As a John Cena fan, it always hurts to speak the truth and predict him to lose but I absolutely cannot see John Cena walking away from the MITB PPV and showing up the following Monday on RAW with his newly acquired WWE Championship. It’s just not going to happen CeNation. Either John Cena is going to win the belt and have it be stripped by RAW’s MITB winner or stripped by Nexus. Nexus has to have some impact on this match whether or not it affects the outcome. You really have to wonder if this steel cage really is going to hold off Nexus from disrupting the match or a possible changing of the WWE Championship Belt. Whatever happens, I just hope a RAW superstar ends up with the belt at the end of the night and this Nexus thing comes to a close soon. Take care everyone and enjoy 2010 Money In The Bank PPV!!!
- I think the MITB PPV will give us an announcement of when and who this new RAW general manager is. We could find out Sunday night, but my guess is that they will leave the big announcement until a later date on RAW to attempt to increase the show ratings. My guess is none other than Michael Cole, who just happened to be the only person to dodge the first NXT attack and has been delivering the messages from the anonymous RAW GM.
- I don’t know about you guys, but I would love to see the WWE “attempt” to revive the women and divas championships. Recently, it has been terrible and the crowd has been giving absolutely no pop to any matches concerning them. I thought a MITB ladder match could’ve been the answer to revive these women. Four ladies from RAW and four ladies from Smackdown could battle it out for just one guaranteed contract to cash in for a championship opportunity at any time for up to a year. O well…I think I will get over it
- I can’t wait for this MITB PPV because there are just so many potential great matches to pick from. However, this brings up one of my displeasures for the format of the PPV. Currently, there are 7 matches listed for the PPV, which in my opinion is too many. I would’ve loved to see maybe 5 matches because then the WWE won’t have to worry about time constraints with these sometimes lengthy ladder matches.
Thanks everyone for reading and please check back next month (August) if you enjoyed this article for more predictions for WWE’s SummerSlam PPV!!!
