VANCOUVER--In celebration of one of the Canucks franchise's best contributors in history, on December 11, 2010, the Canucks will honour former-captain Markus Naslund by retiring #19, and hanging it up in the rafters. During the Canucks 40th season in the NHL, Markus Naslund will play a big part of the celebrations when they bring #19 to the rafters alongside former teammate Trevor Linden and Canucks icon Stan Smyl.
Markus Naslund holds the record for most points scored, most goals in franchise history, most powerplay goals, and most shots.
Naslund was captain from 2000-2008.
His prime time was the West Coast Express with linemates Todd Bertuzzi and Brendan Morrison. Left-winger was named the NHL MVP by his peers (Lester B. Pearson Award (aka. Ted Lindsey Award today)).
Naslund's #19 will mark the 3rd number to be lifted up to the rafters in Canucks Rogers Arena.
