Mike Adamle is Your New Raw General Manager?!
I have just witnessed the most bizarre finish to WWE's Monday Night RAW since the apparent death of Vince McMahon last year. Fans all know by now that the RAW brand has not had a General Manager since William Regal was "fired." (In reality, he was suspended for 60 days for violating the Wellness Policy.)
Well, tonight RAW started out with a bang. John Cena and Batista. Face to face. Plus, Shane McMahon announced that a new RAW General Manager would be revealed later in the show.
So I waited, along with many fans, ever so patiently. Who is the new RAW GM you ask?
Mike Adamle.
Yes, the same Mike Adamle, who attempts to be a wrestling announcer on ECW on Sci-Fi Tuesday nights. You know, the man that has messed up his words on national television more times than an intoxicated Amy Winehouse.
Now, Mike Adamle has gotten a lot better at his job, but to have him selected as RAW's new General Manager is shocking—and not in a good way.
You see, unlike Jonathan Coachman, Adamle lacks the charisma to be an on-air talent. Most importantly, he lacks star power. I mean, fans thought it would be the likes of Eric Bischoff, Stephanie McMahon, Shane O'Mac, Ric Flair, William Regal, or even Vince McMahon himself!
The last person anyone thought would hold the reigns to RAW was a second-rate announcer who is more resented by fans than Sean "X-Pac" Waltman many years back. I have no idea what WWE is doing right now and even though I will continue to watch RAW, it will be reluctantly and at my own risk.
WWE built this storyline up for the payoff of seeing Mike Adamle come to power?! Maybe I am wrong about this whole thing. Maybe fans like me should give this a chance. After all, this could lead to the development of the "No More Mr. Nice Guy" character for the often-ridiculed Adamle. I hope you know what you're doing, Mr. McMahon.
Oh, and before anyone forgets, CM Punk is still the World Heavyweight Champion. Not that anyone noticed between the segments consisting of Shane, Batista, John Cena, JBL, Kane, and Mike Adamle throughout the whole show. But that's another story for another day.
As for Adamle, good luck maintaining a positive presence of WWE's flagship. You are going to need it...
