Sorry its not MC Hammer, just me again. Tonight, I give you a short blog about rumors regarding the Edmonton Oilers. There aren't many out there, but the ones that are, well. let's just say are big.

Let's start with trade rumors. Many have heard the recent Ryan Smyth back to Edmonton rumor. Heck, I did a write up about it right here on Bleacher Report.

However, it is starting to sound like a dream. The Kings don't appear to really be in on Kovi still; therefore, Smyth isn't going to get traded.

A recent article popped up stating that the Ottawa Senators are in fact looking for another defender but are close to the cap.

The rumored name? You guessed it, Sheldon Souray. What could be the return? The article goes on to state that Fillip Kuba could be heading to Edmonton as well as another player; that way, Ottawa can drop some cap space on Edmonton.

I think Kuba would be a nice addition to the Oilers lineup. He is a guy that is bigger, and plays an offense-first style. He could go well if paired with someone like Smid.

The Oilers would have to take someone else back also. Could the Oilers pry Chris Neil out of Ottawa? It would be nice.

Neil adds some grit and toughness to the third or fourth line, and would be a guy that would make the Oilers tougher to play against.

Look for more rumors to pop up involving Souray to Ottawa as we get deeper into the summer months, and closer to camp. This seems like a deal that could get done right before training camp. It would be a nice finishing touch on both Ottawa and Edmonton's roster.

Now the Souray rumor to Ottawa is very interesting. It seems as though after passing through waivers, two teams have come through as teams willing to take Sheldon. It's now clear that getting picks and prospects for Souray will not be happening.

If the Oil want him gone, they have to take cap back. Ryan Smyth from LA and Fillip Kuba and another player making 2M+ appear to be the options right now.

If you are interested in reading the whole article on Souray to Ottawa go to the Edmonton Sun's website. That is where I read the rumor.

Trades aren't the only way to add players to the roster. It's now bargain time in the free agent market. Guys will be looking for one- or two-year deals for cheap money.

According to TSN's Ryan Rishaug, the Oilers are talking with at least one free agent forward. Here are a few tweets from Rishaug himself:

"Oilers kicking some tires on Aaron Asham, no offers yet. Tough 3rd, 4th liner who can play too. We'll see in next few days."

"Asham for Oil? 10 goals -2, avg 10 mins, no pp or pk but 126 pims Still contributed when fighting stopped in playoffs, 4g 3a. theyre talkin"

Yes thats right folks, the Oilers are talking with Free agent forward Arron Asham. Asham played a third- and fourth-line role in Philly this past season and added some grit and toughness to the Flyers. Something the Oil lack.

Asham can hit people, and he can fight. That means he can protect the kids, but most importantly he can play some hockey.

Asham can put the puck in the net. You can expect anywhere from 3-10 goals from him. Not great, but from a third-line grinder, we will take it. Asham also has a great shot.

Asham picked his game up for the Flyers in the playoffs and was a good player for them during their run to the finals. Asham will help the Oilers if signed. I for one am on the wagon to get him under contract.

Tomorrow I will have my promised blog up about development camp for the Oilers. Living out here in Boston, I was unable to attend the Oilers camp.

However, through, reading articles and watching clips, I've seen enough to do a blog. That is coming tomorrow.
