Rumors & Realities: Inter Sign Muntari, Scolari Eyes Quadruple
R-R presents to you the latest rumors and realities of football news.
New Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari says Chelsea can win the quadruple—and this is no rumor—while Inter have further strengthened their star-studded team by signing Sulley Muntari.
Barcelona are looking to sign Euro flop Karim Benzema, and a swap deal including a much better Samuel Eto'o moving in the opposite direction could be on the cards. Rumors have also suggested that Juventus might swap Eto'o for long-term Barca target David Trezeguet.
For a world-class striker who has been scoring 20-plus goals since he joined Barca, Eto'o is being treated unfairly by Pepe Guardiola who seems obsessed in offloading every good performer of Frank Rijkaard's reign.
Another Spaniard who seems to be very busy in the transfer season is Juande Ramos. Apparently, Ramos won't sell Dimitar Berbatov to Manchester United for ₤35 million but will accept a bid of ₤25 million from a foreign club, which means that Barcelona might move to sign the expensive Bulgarian.
In West London, money is no issue, with Chelsea reportedly ready to offer Kaka ₤250,000 a week in an attempt to lure the Brazilian to Stamford Bridge. Also in London, Arsene Wenger is happy that he now has more than 250,000 to finance summer transfers.
Manchester City will finally offload Bernardo Corradi, who might join Reggina.
In Milan, Inter board members are contradicting themselves, with Inter director Gabriele Oriali claiming there will be no more signings, while Marco Branca hints that Ricardo Quaresma's move should be sealed by Friday. Inter manager Jose Mourinho is keen on Quaresma and could use 25 million Euros to bring the Portuguese winger to Giuseppe Meazza.
R-R has kept the best for last: Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Real Madrid is moving at Cafu's pace, with nothing happening as Ronaldo parties in the US.
Jose Mourinho has lived up to his reputation as a big spender as Inter have completed the signing of Sulley Muntari from Portsmouth in a deal thought to be in the region of £16 million.
In England, Everton's Andy Johnson is set to move to Fulham in an attempt to revive his career after spending most of last year chatting with Everton backups on the bench. He is reportedly undergoing a medical and will soon join Fulham.
In other news, Joey Barton is celebrating freedom after being released from prison, hoping to stay out long enough to play a full season with Newcastle.
While Lillian Thuram is not in a celebratory mood and may quit football for a national football post after medical tests revealed a heart defect which prevented him completing his proposed move to Paris Saint Germain.
