Rio Ferdinand believes he will be fully fit for Manchester United's Premier League season opener against Newcastle United.
Ferdinand sat out United's friendly against Aberdeen before being forced out of their 1-1 draw against Kaizer Chiefs with a back complaint.
The England international also missed The Red Devils' second clash against The Chiefs, along with missing Sunday's 2-1 win over Portsmouth to be with his partner who has been expecting their second child.
"I don't see it as a problem."
"There's enough games to get under my belt before the start of the season."
"Fingers crossed I'll be fit for those. I did ground work before going out to South Africa, and I'll do a lot of work in training back at home."
Manchester United will be hoping to have Ferdinand back in time for the new season.
Johny Evans partnered Serbian defender Nemanja Vidic at the back in Ferdinand's absence when the Red Devils clashed with Pompey.
