One year ago, new general manager Scott Pioli took the reigns of a once proud team coming off the losingest season in its history.
Pioli brought in a young new head coach fresh off a Super Bowl appearance as offensive coordinator in Todd Haley. He also made moves to acquire veteran players with winning resumes like Mike Vrabel and Matt Cassel, prompting many to label the Chiefs "New England West."
Most importantly, Pioli set out to reconstruct a deteriorating Chiefs roster in dire need of a talent infusion through not only the draft, but through free agent acquisitions like Chris Chambers.
Now, coming off a season where the Chiefs doubled their win total and ended the year with a 44-24 rout of rival Denver, Pioli has added even more pieces to the puzzle in hopes of getting the team back to the playoffs in 2010.
New to the team are all-star coordinators Charlie Weis and Romeo Crennel, along with a new batch of young, talented draft picks who should play big roles on this 2010 Chiefs team.
Here are the five training camp competitions that could determine just how much closer this team gets to getting back in the playoffs in 2010.
