You can't please everybody.

That is, unless you picked the most deserving players.

With the MLB All-Star Game just around the corner (July 13), lineups were announced today on TBS.

National League mainstays like David Wright and Hanley Ramirez were voted in by the fans, while the rest were left up to their fellow peers and Philadelphia Phillies manager Charlie Manuel.

There are questionable players on the roster and, with that, deserving guys who didn't make the list of 34.

This list gives you 10 players who were snubbed, and one player who made it, that makes us scratch our heads.

Joey Votto

Name: Joey Votto
Team: Cincinnati Reds
Position: First Base
Years in Majors: 4

Batting Average: .313
Home Runs: 19
RBI: 57

Ever heard of an MVP candidate not making the All-Star Game?

With the Cincinnati Reds surprising everyone in the National League Central's first-place slot, first baseman Joey Votto is one of the main reasons behind the team's success.

Votto entered Sunday with a .313 average, fourth in the NL. His 19 home runs are tied for second and his 57 RBI rank fourth.

Ironically enough, his .414 on-base percentage is second behind only St. Louis' Albert Pujols, the starting first baseman for the NL.

Fans can still get Votto to Anaheim by voting for him with the 2010 All-Star Game Final Vote.

Ryan Zimmerman

Name: Ryan Zimmerman
Team: Washington Nationals
Position: Third base
Years in Majors: 6

Batting Average: .279
Home Runs: 13
RBI: 40

For a Washington Nationals franchise player (no, not Stephen Strasburg), Ryan Zimmerman has been nothing short of consistent since he was called up in 2005.

Not only can he swing the bat, but Zimmerman is one of the best defensive third basemen in baseball.

But the two players chosen over him- David Wright (.313, 14 HR, 64 RBI) and Scott Rolen (.302, 17 HR, 56 RBI)- are having solid years, too.

Zimmerman still has a shot as one of the five candidates for the 2010 All-Star Game Final Vote.

Carlos González

Name: Carlos González
Team: Colorado Rockies
Position: Outfield
Years in Majors: 8

Batting Average: .297
Home Runs: 14
RBI: 51

Not everyone can make the All-Star team, especially if the player calls the outfield home.

Historically, the three outfield slots are reserved for a bad team's best player, and that's no exception this year.

Houston's Michael Bourn made it and so did Chicago's Marlon Byrd.

Although Carlos González leads the Rockies in home runs and RBI, ace Ubaldo Jimenez could be traveling to Anaheim alone.

González, like Votto and Zimmerman, is on the 2010 All-Star Game Final Vote list.

Dan Uggla

Name: Dan Uggla
Team: Florida Marlins
Position: Second base
Years in Majors: 5

Batting Average: .268
Home Runs: 15
RBI: 46

With Chase Utley relinquishing his starting spot at second base because of an injury, it seemed as though Dan Uggla might slip onto the roster.

Brandon Phillips and Martin Prado were both shoo-ins to replace Utley. But Omar Infante?

Uggla was near the top in both homers and RBI for second basemen.

Maybe it's a good thing Uggla was left off the list.

Who could forget his horrific three-error performance at the Yankees Stadium two years ago?

Josh Willingham

Name: Josh Willingham
Team: Washington Nationals
Position: Left Field
Years in Majors: 7

Batting Average: .279
Home Runs: 15
RBI: 46
OBP: .413

In his second year with the last-place Washington Nationals, Josh Willingham has enjoyed an All-Star caliber season that he never came close to reaching in five seasons with the Florida Marlins.

He entered Sunday ranked third among outfielders in OPS (.925), first in on-base percentage, and tied for third in home runs.

Willingham has quietly been one of the most consistent producers for the Nationals, who only get press from phenomenon Stephen Strasburg.

Instead of injured 20-year-old rookie Jason Heyward (.251, 11 HR, 45 RBI) taking up an outfield slot, why not give it to the deserving veteran?

Billy Wagner

Name: Billy Wagner
Team: Atlanta Braves
Position: Closer
Years in Majors: 17

Record: 5-0
ERA: 1.35
Strikeouts: 52
Walks: 12
Saves: 17

Maybe Charlie Manuel is harboring hard feelings toward the former Phillies closer?

Billy Wagner's numbers speak for themselves. Once again, his strikeout-to-walk ratio is superb.

Is there any way that Omar Infante or Brian McCann can be switched for their teammate?

That five other Braves were already chosen for the team might have hurt Wagner's chances in the end.

Wagner is one of five candidates for the 2010 All-Star Game Final Vote.

Heath Bell

Name: Heath Bell
Team: San Diego Padres
Position: Closer
Years in the Majors: 7

Record: 3-0
ERA: 1.77
Strikeouts: 48
Walks: 14
Saves: 23

At the back of the bullpen, Heath Bell has done a superb job closing out games for the NL West-leading San Diego Padres.

With starting pitchers getting deep into ballgames and shutting down teams in easy fashion, Bell has blown just three saves.

It's a shame that the dominant (and surprising) Padres will send just first baseman Adrian Gonzalez to the All-Star Game, unless Bell gets in with the 2010 All-Star Game Final Vote.

Jayson Werth

100871685_display_image

Name: Jayson Werth
Team: Philadelphia Phillies
Position: Right Field
Years in Majors: 8

Batting Average: .283
Home Runs: 13
RBI: 48

Jayson Werth sneaked into last year's All-Star Game as a replacement for New York Mets center fielder Carlos Beltran.

Werth is having another solid year this season.

Playing for the Phillies alongside offensive weapons like Ryan Howard and Chase Utley, Werth will always have the third- or fourth-best numbers on the team.

But the problem isn't his numbers.

Houston needed an All-Star representative. Cue Michael Bourn.

Werth's manager, Charlie Manuel, had already chosen Roy Halladay and Ryan Howard for the All-Star team.

Utley, who was voted in by the fans but is out with a torn ligament in his right thumb, was replaced by Martin Prado and Brandon Phillips.

Miguel Olivo

Name: Miguel Olivo
Team: Colorado Rockies
Position: Catcher
Years in Majors: 11

Batting Average: .308
Home Runs: 11
RBI: 39

Miguel Olivo catches Cy Young frontrunner Ubaldo Jimenez every five days.

Usually known for his ability to hit a fastball, Olivo has surprised baseball fans and players alike by erasing 20-of-38 runners on stolen-base attempts.

He caught Cy Young winner Zack Greinke last year.

Olivo's bat has been on fire in 2010. He leads all big-league catchers in OPS (.905), on-base percentage (.365) and slugging percentage (.540).

His ability to drive the ball to the opposite field has surprised the Colorado Rockies.

Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann's numbers (.261, 9 HR, 33 RBI) aren't anywhere near Olivo's, but McCann plays for a first-place team in the NL East that Charlie Manuel sees 18 times a year.

San Diego Padres pitching rotation

You've got to be kidding me, right?

The Padres' rotation leads the majors in ERA. So does their bullpen.

Only time will tell if another San Diego player will travel with Adrian Gonzalez to Anaheim.

Will it be closer Heath Bell, who is on the final ballot?

Starter Mat Latos (9-4), with his 2.62 ERA is also deserving.

So is reliever Luke Gregerson (19 holds), who has struck out 51 batters to just 6 walks in 38 outings, while posting a 2.23 ERA.

He Made It?! Omar Infante

101958532_display_image

Name: Omar Infante
Team: Atlanta Braves
Position: Utility
Years in Majors: 9

Games: 56
Batting Average: .311
Home Runs: 1
RBI: 22

No offense to Omar Infante, but he's not even an everyday player for the Atlanta Braves.

Infante has just 164 at-bats and has already committed seven errors.

There are far more deserving players in the National League, as proven by this list.

Heck, there are even more players who are deserving that didn't even make the list.
