The past week in MMA has seen two of the most important heavyweight fights in recent years.
The first being Fedor Emelianenko vs Fabricio Werdum. Going in to last Saturday's bout, Fedor was heavy favourite with few giving Werdum a chance.
Someone however hadn't given Werdum the script as he delivered 'The Last Emperor' with his first proper lost in his ten year career.
Going in, it was hard to dispute Fedor's throne at the top of the heavyweight division but how does he stand now? Similarly, where does his loss place Werdum in the division?
The second of the important heavyweight fights took place this weekend at UFC 116.
Lesnar vs Carwin was arguable the biggest heavyweight contest in the history of MMA. Lesnar came out victorious however Carwin was not disgraced in defeat, thoroughly dominating the champion in the first round only to find upon answering the bell for round 2 he had nothing left in his gas tank.
Is this win over Carwin enough to put Lesnar to the top of the food chain?
