When Tires Were The Issue Johnson Came Out on Top

Michael VoyerSenior Analyst IJuly 27, 2008

Jimmie Johnson won his second career race at the Brickyard despite having tire issues (along with every other driver). The last time Jimmie Johnson won the Brickyard he won the championship (2006).

Competition yellow was also the another main factor in the race, they had one caution every 10 laps to prevent any major wrecks, obviously Matt Kenseth and Juan Pablo taking the biggest hit in the race. Another driver who over drove the car Kurt Busch spun out and collected Kevin Harvick, spoiling his chances at a second Brickyard.

The thing that was intresting about the race was Kyle Busch dodged two bullets in the race missing both Juan Pablo and Kevin Harvick. After the long race and leading a few laps Kyle managed to pull off a 15 place finish, not too bad considering all the factors in the race.

The top 10 in the race were

1- Jimmie Johnson

2- Carl Edwards

3- Denny Hamlin

4- Elliott Sadler

5- Jamie McMurray

6- Jeff Gordon

7- Kasey Kahne

8- Greg Biffle

9- Jeff Burton

10- A.J. Allmendinger
