The multiple reports that said free agent Paul Pierce has reached a new contract with the Boston Celtics are apparently premature.

Despite these new revelations, the two sides are closing in on an agreement.

The new contract would be worth $60 and $62 million dollars, but whether the fourth year has an option attached to it or not is not yet known.

Ultimately, Paul Pierce is still a free agent and is in negotiations with the Celtics. Boston's future is still in flux as a result of the free agent frenzy.

I will provide updates when more information becomes available.
