Rudy Gay Stays With Grizzlies, Nets Should get Back RJ

Keith BennettCorrespondent INovember 11, 2016

Rudy Gay has decided to accept a 5-year,$83-million offer to stay with the Memphis Grizzlies, according to David Aldridge, of NBA.com. The deal will affect the Nets, who were scheduled to with Gay Friday night in New York.Gay has canceled meetings with potential suitors, a strong indication that he has reached an agreement with the Grizzlies. The Nets must now turn their attention elsewhere in an effort to fill their void at small forward. Former Nets Richard Jefferson who opted out his contract with the San Antonio Spurs this week, are options. Jefferson was due to make about $15 million next year after underachieving in his first season in San Antonio. Jefferson, who turned 30 years this month, averaged 12.3 points last season, his lowest since his rookie year. Coming off such a disappointing season, Jefferson likely won't be able to earn all of the money he left on the table back in a single season, but as he told FanHouse's Chris Tomasson in April, he hopes a temporary pay cut will result in long-term security. RJ just needs some home cooking. He was a good all around player when, he play with the Nets and Jason Kidd.
