The Mets (44-34) were able to salvage their series with a 6-4 victory over the Florida Marlins (37-41) who committed 4 errors in Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan Wednesday night. The win was their first of the season vs. the Fish on the road (1-6) improving to 16-22 away from Citi Field. Mike Pelfrey did not factor in the decision as he allowed 12 hits and 4 ER through 4 2/3 inning of work while throwing a John Maine like 108 pitches. It marked the first time this season that Pelfrey was unable to get through the 5th inning as his struggles vs. the Marlins continue. When speaking to reporters after the game, manager Jerry Manuel had this to say about Mike’s outing:

I don’t see him attacking the hitters, the right handed hitters inside. I recollect in Tampa and that’s what he did and that seemed to get him going. I don’t see that, I see everything away. I still think his secondary pitches are good but I think he is relying a little to much on those right now, when his power and who Mike Pelfrey is a good hard sinker and we can not afford him to lose that he has to find that pitch if he don’t find anything”

David Wright was 2 for 4 finishing the month of June 42 for 104 (.403) with 6 HR and 29 RBI jumping his season average from .269 (6/1) to .313 (6/30) in the process. Manuel also commented on Wrights torrid June stating:

What I like most is that I think he has found a level of comfort with two strikes, when he is in that mode he is a very good...
