Talks between the Mets and Mariners have begun to heat up. Today the Mets signed catchers Michael Barrett to a minor league deal, and the Mariners made room on their roster for another catcher, Josh Bard. Doesn't mean anything definite, by it is interesting news.

A source tell Mets Paradise that the Mets have offer Fernando Martinez, Josh Thole and Bobby Parnell for Cliff Lee.

Martinez use to be one of the top prospects in baseball, but has fallen due to lack of production and injury problems. He has potential to be a great player, and had a very nice Spring Training, he just needs to stay healthy.

Thole looks like he is going to be a solid catcher at the major league level. He won't be an All-Star, but he'll be a nice guy to have on the team. I've compared him to being a Jason Kendell type of player.

Parnell is a solid arm in the bullpen and can provide good relief innings. He could be a late inning guy, or maybe even a set-up man.

Lee would come to the Mets and give them a phenomenal pitching staff. Would probably be the best in the National League and one of the best in baseball.
