2010 NBA Free Agency: Celtic Legend Paul Pierce Decides To Opt-Out

Matt RavidaCorrespondent IJune 30, 2010

With this year`s free agency class so jam pact with NBA superstars, maybe even some NBA Hall of Famers down the line. With the like of LeBron, Wade, Bosh and now Dirk deciding to opt out of his contract. Another all-star to add to the mix, Paul Pierce has decided to opt out as well.

Pierce has never been an unrestricted free agent in his whole career, and his whole career has been with the Celtics. So seeing Pierce`s name as a free agent is very weird and unusual to see.

But Pierce has said that when the market opens up on 12:01 am, his main goal is to talk to the Celtics about a new contract? But who would want a new contract when your about to make $21,500,000 next year? Though Pierce has opted out, and will most likely re-sign with the Celtics, he has said he will listen to offers from other teams.

Pierce has played 12 years in the NBA, and has averaged 22.5 points a game, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.8 assists a game.

Pierce can receive a max deal from the Celtics worth about $96 million over four years, whereas other teams can sign him to $93 million over four years.

But could the player who has played his whole career in a Boston Celtics uniform, just walk away like that

I guess only time shall tell.

If Peirce were to leave, could this bring up the talks of, is Pierce the best player to ever put on a Celtic jersey
