The Phillies have an incredibly talented offense that includes Jimmy Rollins, Shane Victorino, Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, and Pat Burrell.
Rollins is having an off-year by his standards, but he does have 25 steals and five triples.
Victorino is the lone Phillie producing lately, with seven homers, 31 RBI, a .279 average, and 24 steals.
Utley has 25 homers and 70 RBI. Howard has 30 homers and 90 RBI. After hearing that you'd think they'd have the top offense in the majors, right? WRONG!
- B/R Ticket Guide
After the All-Star break, the Phils have averaged just under four runs a game. Howard is striking out a lot again, and Utley isn't producing as much.
It doesn't help that Cole Hamels and Jamie Moyer are the only pitchers giving quality starts. Brett Myers has an ERA just below six, Joe Blanton wasn't very good in his first start, and Kendrick has an ERA just above 4.50.
The Phillies have dropped out of first place, two games below the Mets. The way the Phils are playing, that isn't striking distance.
They have lost series in the second half to NL East rivals Florida and New York, and they lost their first game to Atlanta. They are 2-5 in the second half and have an upcoming series against another NL East rival in the Washington Nationals.
The Phils look to gain some ground on the Mets in that series, as the Nationals are the worst team in the National League.
Right now, It's Not Sunny in Philadelphia, but anything can happen in a close division such as the NL East.
