Projecting the top point guards for the next NBA season.
Russell Westbrook had a great season in 2009-2010. He averaged 16.1 points and 8 assists and was the second best player on a young but talented Thunder team. While to be considered an elite player he will need to cut down on the turnovers but that will come with experience. Besides assists will come easy since he can throw the ball to the scoring champion.
He was an all-star last season and he deserved it. He had a good playoffs with a spectacular triple-double agianst the cavs which caused many people to call him the best point gaurd in basketball. In my opinion he hasn some things to improve on before he reaches that point. He is not a good jump shooter and he led the league in turnovers last year. He has plenty of time to improve on thing and may be the top point gaurd in the league one day, but as of now there are three others ahead of him.
Funny how an injury can change everything. A year ago he was the unanimous top point guard in basketball. Now he has been unseated but I expect him to put on a brilliant performance next year....but not as good as the next two.
Derrick Rose was one of the top point guards in the NBA last year and his team is expected to sign a big name free agent. Even if the bulls don't sign Lebron his stats will rise significantly. Imagine the assists he could get by just throwing it to Chris Bosh or Joe Johnson. He has only played in the league for two years so I expect him to really blossom next season.
You probably guessed it. Over the last half of the regular season he asserted himself as the top PG in basketball. He solidified himself at the top of the podium with a stellar playoffs. Even though his team was swept in the second round he had a great series and showed that not only could he score, but he had the widest range of skills for a PG. This guy can pass, rebound and rarely turns the ball over. He is clearly top dog as far as point guards go.
This was based on opinion and I didn't reference a lot of stats so please don't get mad and look up a bunch of numbers.
