Yes, Dwight Howard and Shaquille O'Neal may be nicknamed Superman, but I don't consider that as their real identity. Comparisons of superpowers of superheroes to the skillset of the NBA players will be made in this slide show. Please don't get mad. I didn't include old players. I just put in current NBA Stars, but feel free to make comparisons (i.e. Dream Team). I don't know what else to say. Here they are, enjoy it!
Chris Paul, as we all know, has such blinding quickness and speed. Who more fitting, than The Flash himself? The Hornets' superstar can get rack to rack just as quickly as anyone. He can penetrate through any cracks or crevices in the defense and put it in the basket as good as anyone.
How are they alike? Just massive in size, inhuman physiques, and hops to boost. Dwight may not be THE strongest, but certainly is one of the strongest. With his complete set of dexterity, size and athleticism, Dwight can swat any object thrown at the basket with unbelievable force.
I guess you can call Ron Artest the anti-hero. He was hated by Lakers fans, specifically because of the incident between Ron and Kobe Bryant in the 08-09 Playoffs. Quickly after the swap of Trevor Ariza and Ron Artest, did the Lakers embrace him. Throughout the season, his inconsistent shooting have been a letdown, but he makes sure to redeem himself (I.E. Game Winner putback against the Suns, 20 Point 5 Steals performance in Game 7).
The Zen Master and Professor X are both mentors of huge names. They have a great power to influence the mind and improve their pupils. Phil Jackson knows how to develop young players and coach huge stars like Mike, Kobe, Scottie, Shaq, and Pau. Professor X is the head of mutants, and he helps them find their powers and cause.
Wade and Spidey? What do they have in common? They are both high flying, energetic enigmas. Electrifying and Charismatic, who's more fun to watch than D-Wade? Sorry, LeBron's chase-down blocks, Kobe's clutch shots, and Dwight's swats, but Dwyane Wade is so entertaining. This coming from a Lakers fan. D-Wade plays with more style and grace than anyone. His reckless abandon and high flying wrecks to the basket reminds me of Spiderman's swinging and acrobatic style.
LeBron James, like Superman, has a strong physique, superhuman strength, speed of light, and flight ability. LeBron can throw down a dunk, and swat a fastbreak lay up just as hard as Superman. They both have god-given athleticism and are considered the strongest of all heroes. Also, Superman is a huge favorite just as LeBron is.
Beast Boy can shapeshift into different animals to gain different special powers. Lamar Odom, is the most versatile player in the game. He can play the point, the 2 Guard, Small Forward, Power, and Center. Beast Boy can do just about everything with his powers, and so can LO. Odom can shoot the three, drive the basket, set his teammates up, rebound, block shots, and just about everything else.
The Juggernaut and Shaq have the size of a bull. Actually, two bulls. Both massive specimens also possess incredible strength. I haven't seen anyone take a charge from Shaq and not be demolished. Poor Tony Parker and Quentin Richardson were toppled by Shaq. Juggernaut can be the same, breaking through walls, something Shaq can probably do. If it wasn't for Dwight, Shaq would be the Hulk, but Juggernaut seems more fitting. It fits Shaq's strength and combination of height and weight.
What else can I say? The Redeem Team is arguably the best Olympic basketball team of all time (You can compare with 92 Dream Team), and the most dominant legion of Superheroes. Kobe and LeBron lead the 2008 Redeem Team, while Batman and Superman lead the Justice League of America. Seems very fitting right?
Last, but certainly far from the least, is Kobe Bryant. Kobe Bryant may have athletic ability through the roof, but he also has mad skill. Batman may be just above the average human, but uses gadgets and shenanigans with skill. They are both lethal with their brilliance and killer instincts. The Black Mamba and The Dark Knight are considered one of the best because of their hard work and talent. Another thing is, they make things happen. Who would've thought someone as average as Batman can protect the city from multiple supervillains. Kobe Bryant can make any shot over any player in any circumstances in the clutch. There is not one player other than Mike and Larry, I would take over Kobe, when you have the game on the line.
