The Mets extended their lead over the Phillies to two games tonight with a 7-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Amazins were on their game as Big Pelf Mike Pelfrey threw a terrific game as he went seven innings and let up one run on seven hits striking out five. But it wasn't only Pelfrey that was making the noise, it was the Mets' bats.
First Endy Chavez went four for five with a double and scored a run. David Wright also had a good game going two for five with a double of his own and getting an RBI. Homers came from the Ageless Wonder Carlos Delgado who has been on quite of a tear as of late. He hit his 20th home run of the season and it was a two-run shot. Argenis Reyes also contributed to the Mets win with his first home run of his career. His home run was also a two-run shot.

The Cardinal offense came from Ryan Ludwick and Troy Glaus who each had one RBI. Ludwick went two for four and Glaus went one for three. Rookie pitcher Mitchell Boggs let up six runs, walked four, and struck out one while letting up a home run.
Mets and Cards face off again tomorrow at 7 p.m.
