BREAKING NEWS: Xavier Nady on the Move

Joel KochSenior Analyst IJuly 25, 2008

Xavier Nady and Damaso Marte, formerly of the Pittsburgh Pirates, are taking physicals as we speak.

Nady was pulled after one inning in tonight's (7/25) game against the San Diego Padres. Marte was seen hugging his teammates during the second inning.

Both are headed to the Bronx as the New York Yankees pulled the trigger on a trade that was more than likely talked about at the brass meeting in Tampa Bay yesterday (7/24).

The Yankees traded Ross Ohlendorf and "three others" to the Pirates. No names yet on the "three other" players, but we do know one thing. Baseball Prospectus reported that a Double A pitcher for the Yankees was pulled from the game. Sources say that pitcher is Phil Coke, a 26 year old left handed starter.

RECENT NEWS: Ken Rosenthal of Fox has put out his story on this trade. He has found out for sure the names of the "three others" recently reported by ESPNEWS.

Rosenthal has confirmed that Ohlendorf is the "big" name headed to Pittsburgh. He also confirmed that Coke is among the "three others." Also headed to Pittsburgh are "[Class AA RHP] George Kontos and Class AA outfielder Jose Tabata."

RECENT NEWS: The players have changed. Ohlendorf and Tabata are still apart of the deal. The other two names have changed. Going to Pittsburgh is RHPs Jeff Karstens and Dan McCutchen in stead of LHP Phil Coke and RHP George Kontos.
