A report surfaced today that the New Jersey Jets were given permission by the Packers to speak with the semi-retired Brett Favre. Now, while I don't think Favre should return to football, it appears he doesn't value my opinion all that much and will be returning anyway, but going to the Jets may not be too bad. After all, if he won't be in a Packers uni, at least he'll still be in green, so the visual shock won't be to distressing. And the Jets could use a solid QB, as Pennington and Clemens haven't proven themselves to be all that great. Plus, the Packers would move him out of the conference, so he won't come back to bite them unless by some miracle the two teams face each other in Super Bowl 43. If Favre is going to go through with his decision to play (which he will), the Jets are a worthwhile suitor for him, and while I don't know what they'd give up to acquire him, it would pay off for both the team and the player.
