Did anyone catch that record-breaking Monday Night Football game tonight? It was a battle.
With no offense, the only score in the game came with :17 seconds left in the 4th quarter. The horrible conditions in Pittsburgh were the main factor in this offense-less game.
One highlight, though, was Ricky Williams debut. With a new haircut and new outlook, hopefully he can withstand some suspensions this season. He averaged a whole 2.5 yards per carry on 6 carries before leaving the game with a shoulder injury. He was stepped on after he fumbled the ball, injuring his shoulder. The hobbled Jesse Chatman came in, rushed for 17 yards on 11 carries and hurt his neck on a head to head collision. Undrafted Patrick Cobbs followed, gaining just 10 yards.
Willie Parker was probably the best fantasy player, as he rushed for 81 yards on 24 carries, and he overshadowed Ben Roethlisberger's good performance. He only threw 3 incompletions, one being an interception, for 165 yards. Hines Ward caught 9 passes for 88 of those yards, polishing off a solid fantasy day also.
Jeff Reed's 24-yard field goal led to Miami attempting a Music City Miracle, which failed miserably. This game proved absolutely nothing though as Miami lost by 3 for the record breaking 6th time this season. Pittsburgh managed to win after losing to the New York Jets last week. But overall, blame the weather for this close game, not Miami's stellar defense.
Other highlights from this week...
New England almost encountered their first loss to the Donovan McNabb-less Philadelphia Eagles. They won, thus clinching the AFC East division at 11-0. This could be the first season ever having a team go 16-0 and another go 0-16. Miami going 0-16 this season would be ironic seeing as they are the only undefeated team in NFL history.
The Packers and Cowboys both won extending their records to 10-1, creating a great Week 13 matchup in Dallas. I'm not going to predict anything, other than it will be a great game.
The Wild Card spots for the AFC, if the season ended today, would be awarded to Cleveland and Jacksonville. For the NFC, they would be awarded to the New York Giants and Detroit Lions. Both games would be good, and we all secretly want Cleveland and Detroit to make the playoffs. I know I do.
